PSORIASIS
Treatment for Psoriasis is carried out at the International Psoriasis Treatment Centre (IPTC), which is situated between the Oasis and Spa Club Hotel. At the IPTC, treatments are also available for Psoriatic Arthritis, Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema), Vitiligo and Acne.
The best time to come to the Dead Sea for psoriasis treatment is March-June or September-November. The best time for eczema treatment is November-March. The optimum length of stay for psoriasis treatment is 3-4 weeks and 4 weeks for eczema treatment.
The IPTC offer 3 treatment packages. All treatment packages include a medical check-up upon arrival by a dermatologist, and at least one medical check-up each week thereafter, nurse treatment, including daily scalp treatment with LIFE Dead Sea ointments), ointments and medicines as prescribed by the dermatologist (PS/A - $20 per week; PS/B - $37.50 per week and PS/C – up to $60 per week), unlimited entrance and use of the hotels’ roof solarium and final examination and medical report upon completion of the treatment. The IPTC also offer a treatment package including unlimited use of ointments for an additional cost. The condition can be triggered by a number of factors such as stress, injuries to the skin and streptococcal throat infections. In many cases sufferers have relatives who also have the condition.
Psoriasis cannot be cured, but it is possible to relieve, control and even clear it for considerable lengths of time. Careful exposure to sunshine is usually beneficial.
